Summer 2010 Appearances
I'm making it a goal to get out and sell my wares this summer! Now that the Trenton Ave Arts Festival is officially over, I can concentrate on getting my own art out in the public eye, instead of getting everyone else's out there.

June 4th, July 2nd, August 6th, etc
First Friday @ BYO Studio (first Friday of the month, June & beyond!)
2212 Sepviva Street in fair Fishtown. Visit me and all the printers at BYO to see what we're working on in the studio, maybe learn how to make a print, and even take one home! The building houses plenty of other artists too, who open up on on First Friday, as well as Extra Extra Gallery. It's madness!

June 26th, 1pm-10pm
Summer Solstice Festival @ Philadelphia's Magic Gardens ( 1020 South St)
Isaiah Zagar's outdoor sculptural wonderland, the Magic Gardens, will again host a Summer Solstice Festival at the MG and streets surrounding. I'll be there with works on paper (etchings, woodblocks, collages, drawings), jewelry (necklaces, earrings from recycled or vintage stock), copper and brass housewares (etched illustrations on vintage or repurposed items), and if I get really pumped, perhaps some good 'ole unaltered vintage bits too. Check the link above for info on musicians, dance, and other events of the summer solstice festival.

July 10th, 12pm-5pm
Satellite 2nd Saturdays
I'm branching out here and heading over to West Philly for this monthly art fair. Hosted by VIX Emporium at 50th and Baltimore, this crafty fair will be at the grassy triangle (or is it cement-y? I'm not sure) sandwiched between VIX, DangerDanger Gallery, Satellite Cafe, Firehouse Bicycles, and Dock Street Brewery. In other words, it's not just the craft fair that should bring you to this part of West Philly.
50th St and Baltimore Avenue (you can take the 34 Trolley here, too)

July 11th, 12pm-7pm
The Market at the Piazza
Yes, I will be at the infamous Piazza at Schmidt's for the (re)invention Grand Opening. Aside from ridiculous things like the JUMBOTRON TV, and P.Y.T. (where hipster girls slob over very messy burgers), there are AWESOME things like Bambi Gallery(!!!) and El Camino Real (across the street, but great BBQ, not messy). And Darling's Diner and their awesome cheesecakes and coffee cake.
2nd St at Germantown Avenue.

July 17th, 11am-3pm
Handmade Market @ Memphis Taproom
No walnut chucking squirrels this year! This is a great little art market put on by the nice folks at Memphis Tap. Check out the side yard and the walks around the restaurant for unique local bits. Grab some brunch (super bloody marys), after you've found the perfect piece of handmade awesomeness, of course. For a complete tour of Cumberland Street summer greatness, stroll down to Greensgrow Farms and pickup some fresh produce or plants for your home too. What a complete afternoon!
Cumberland St and Memphis St, in fishtown.

New Website Design!
Two years ago, I built katevanvliet.com from scratch. Now, the artwork slideshow is broken, my artist statement an archive, and my resume outdated...it's time for an absolute overhaul.

Enjoy.
